burg

i get to go an the williamsburg trip tommorrow. it is a 4 hour bus ride! i get to room with pree, lu, and julia. i am thankful that i have this opportunity.

art test

mr g is back from his convention. we watched our tape today and it was not very good quality. we sounded fine, i guess. it was better in real life. i had an art (visual art) test today. it was simple, about pop art

Quintet

We practiced in our quintet today from 2:30 to 5. Yay! Ms. H and Ms. S heard us and then Ms Henry taped us playing. it didn't sound so good on the tape. mr. D (band teach) gave us constructive criticism and then while we were waiting to leave we did funny gymnastical stuff.

SUNDAY

Today we went to church, then shopping, then to Mom's vestry meeting, then to a candlelight service at Lincoln Park, and then home! We are having mac n' cheese for dinner. I got my candlelight to last from the park to the car!

Saturday

Today we will see The Twins + Francie. I am soOOOO excited! I like to see them. I awoke at 7 o clock this morning, but stayed in bed reading Teen Vogue and the script of Little Miss Sunshine and listened to Paganini's Caprices until 9. We had zephyr pancakes. Greg is in Philly.

Shopping

I skipped Mod 5 (creative arts) today with mommy, and went shopping at Bowie Town Center! I bought a purse at Old Navy, and a TeenVogue from Barnes and Noble. The purse had originally been 12.99, then it was 4.99, and I bought it for 3.99! Yay! It is a blue and white stripe biggish clutch.

More Orchestra Talk

There has been gossip about getting kicked out of Symphony. Today the 2nd cello came over to my friend Lu (cello), and said "You better practice your music, unless you want to get the boot" then she said "were you there when we were talking about it?" and lu nodded, and the other girl smiled. I am not intimidated, because I know that only mr. G can kick kids out, and pree and lu said that after the last class, the 1st and 2nd cellos had been talking about who they wanted to leave, and they wanted to get rid of me, but pree and lu said no, and mr g said that I am the most hard working student in the orchestra, and that he would never kick me out. (this is what pree and lu said, I did not hear this myself). then today in orch. he let us work on our Solo & Ensemble music while he called us in individually to hear us. and then he took his grade book and went into his office. Our group got together, and Mr. G called in about 10 students to hear, including my stand partner (4th chair). We played our Presto a couple of times, and we found it to loud to play Canon. Then the first girl who was listened to came out of the office, and she said that we had to play him pieces from the concert, so I went and told that to my group, and we decided to play Hallelujah Chorus, since Mr. G says that it is not one of our best songs. We started playing, just the 5 of us, and it got a little quieter, some kids turned and stared, then it got a little louder in the room, and we were about 14 msrs through. then mr g came storming out of his off ice and bellowed "Don't you dare play that song!" as soon as he stepped out of his office it became quiet, and it was silence for a little while after he went back in. everyone was staring at us. then students began practicing again, and i told my group that he just didn't want us to play it because it was too good. they agreed, and we continued to play. at the end of class, Mr. G came and said that everyone who he called in that day could play, but they didn't play with maturity. No one in my group was listened to, so i think that that is a good sign. he will hear our groups play on Monday.

At the concert

At the concert we played (an excerpt of) Concerto in D Major, Night Shift, Jupiter, The Nutcracker, Winter, and The Hallelujah Chorus. My stand partner and i didn't think that it was that bad at the time, but after the concert I knew that it was not the best it could have been, and today all we did during class was be talked to on how to improve and how other people are better than us. Did I say yesterday that i hurt my thumb? I smashed it between a door and a wall and it was swelling but then it was fine and then during the concert I showed my stand partner that it was swelling and it was a funny color. Then Manny saw and he taped it up.then today my thumb turned gray and at lunch we asked manny how tight it was supposed to be because when he taped it he said that it was supposed to be really tight and he said he didnt know but he might have done it too tight and it was supposed to really help and i said that it did but i thought that it was too tight and he said he didnot have any more and pree was upset and he said why do you excpect me to carry stuff for (my name)? and she said because he rolls like that.

Concert

I have a concert tonight-the first of this term and my time with the Symphony Orchestra. I am third chair, which is good for it being my first year.

Sunday

Today we went to church and then we went to Politics and Prose for the member's book sale. I got a great big book of music theory! Yay!

Saturday

Today I am reading "And Both Were Young" by Madeleine L'Engle. I think it is good, but it got a little freaky after Paul told Flip that he didn't know who he was.

The computer was down for a while so i haven't been on... its good to be back. i have a long orchestra practice tomorrow, from 2 to the end of the day.

Ice Skating

Today I am going Ice Skating with Lu and Pree. I am not good at ice skating but they said that they would help.

TurKeY

Happy Turkey Day aka Thanksgiving! 1010 posts! The sermon today was about memory and a mind is a terrible thing to waste and how you cant be thankful for something that u cant remember. I am thankful for my music. I practiced for over 2 hours yesterday.

Omaha Steaks

Did I say yesterday that we received an Omaha Steaks cooler in the mail? Well we did. It was a present from Grandma and Ed.

i have a 5 whole day weekend because it is thanksgiving and our school has thanksgiving break.while i am on holiday i will make websites and post videos on youtube, the website in which you "broadcast yourself|".sounds like heaven for some.there are certainly lots of great videos.i would reccomend it to anyone who has not tried it.

Canon

We practiced Canon yesterday (sans the bass). It was very good. P got upset bcause we criticized her. it was just to get her used to playing in a group. greg is looking while i type this. how annoying

Advent

It is almost advent time. There were lots of kids at Sunday School today. At Coffee Hour there were chicken nuggets with cheese in them! I am going to see Justin at 3.
