Friends

It is fun to have friends. Today after orchestra my stand partner and I and our friends all sat on chairs in a circle and propped up our legs on each other. SOME PEOPLE have very heavy feet. It is also fun to see your friends on YouTube.

Filming

Today after school(half day!) we rode on prees bus and filmed at her house. We had Papa Johns and Pepsi. We used mics and got plenty o work done.

Gum

I have 5 gum. It is the orange flavor, called Lush. People saw that i had it at lunch and were begging me "Pleease give me some of that Lush! Gotta get that Lush!"

Lesson

I had a private viola lesson today. Nothing to report. Still playing Menuet.

UNsuper Saturday

Today is pretty durn boring, but i can play asorted parts of assorted songs on viola.
i can do almost all of "Dirty Little Secrets".

I feel very not well today. My throat hurts. How lovely to have this happen on an off day. In other news, I am learning "The Pink Panther".

Suitland Apps Pt II

My Suitland application is all done and turned in! Yes! Now I just need to practice practice practice!!!!! I had a Strawberry Sundae at Costco today after school. There is no school tomorrow.

New

The concert for last night was canceled, we got let out 2 hours early from school, and there is no school today because it is a Code Blue. I am studying the piece "Swallowtail Jig".

Stage Presence

Mr. G wants the gang* to perform at the concert for the parents (the concert to show off our music for Festival). Yay! I love to perform for groups.

We got one 2 at the comp., for Intonation, but we got an overall score of 1! yay! SEE U AT states! TAKE THAT, MD!!!!!!!!!!

Today at 1:00 is the Solo Ensemble Comp.! I am really excited! YAY!

Competition

Tomorrow is the Solo + Ensemble Festival. I am playing Presto and Canon (McAllister) in a quintet. No one calls it Solo AND Ensemble Festival, for this one we call it SoloEnsemble (all 1 word), and for the bigger one we call it State or States. For when the whole orchestra is competing as one, we call it Festival

Sad

The saddest thing about winter is that you can't wear cute sundresses and/or bathing suits. At least, not in public, or w/out freezing. I saw a cute bathing suit at Old Navy: bright yellow cross back 1 piece with a ruffle at the top.

Inauguration

We went downtown for The Inauguration today. I don't want to see any people for the rest of my life. There was so much pushing and shoving. We just came home from IHOP. A lady at The Inauguration gave my mom $25 to "treat us to lunch". She winked at me. We didn't get home for lunch so we had an out dinner instead.

Tired

Today I am tired. I slept in til 10:10. It is Martin Luther King Jr. Day so there is no school. I am going to continue filming today.

Inaugural Concert

We went to the We Are One concert today on the mall. It was fun. There were SO many people, and yet, against all odds, we saw a family of people we knew from our school (the second first violinist). WOW.

Dance

last night was the dance. i had fun, even though i was not voted First Lady. The new french boy was president.

Two Parties and a Potluck

So far today i have been to church, with a potluck brunch after, then to my cuz's fourth b-day party, then home, then to the fabric store. This evening i am going to a 12th night xmas partay.

Finally it is the weekend. My feet are killing me. I am going to have bacon for breakfast today.

There are these really good cookies that my sister and i k=make, they have cocoa and oatmeal and peanut butter.

Solo

Today i did my solo. Mr. G said it was very good. Yay. I also did my spanish oral presentation and one boy said it was the best in the class.

My hair is waved today. I probably have not told you, but on the French side their is a boy who has just been transferred from France.

I am re-reading "Chalked Up" by Jen Sey. What I did not realize the first time i read it was that her parents were ignoring the fact that she was doing all these terrible thing to herself and her life was being made worse.

Happy New Year's Eve! I don't have big plans today, just a small family celebration tonight. It is my grandma's birthday so we'll probably call her today too. She is 75.

two days of adventure

I spent 2 days of adventure in Virginia on the Williamsburg/Jamestown trip. our group got into trouble cuz first we forgot our room #, then we wouldn't let 1 person in so our door got jammed open by ms. S. Then we all got locked out of our room, and that was really bad. Then we had to get walked to the concierge in the other building to get another key card. Then pree was yelling into the phone at the boys and she got taken away and put into time out. tomorrow i am going to S.C. AAAAAAA!!!!!! No Internet! AAAAAAAAAAAAAA|!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dial-Up!

today i had to go and sing the exact same songs that i had to sing on Thursday night with no help or accompaniment whatsoever. i love singing but they are so darn boring the 2nd time through! and all the good stuff got left behind because there was no accompaniment.it was a nightmare. at least i did well.

burg

i get to go an the williamsburg trip tommorrow. it is a 4 hour bus ride! i get to room with pree, lu, and julia. i am thankful that i have this opportunity.

art test

mr g is back from his convention. we watched our tape today and it was not very good quality. we sounded fine, i guess. it was better in real life. i had an art (visual art) test today. it was simple, about pop art

Quintet

We practiced in our quintet today from 2:30 to 5. Yay! Ms. H and Ms. S heard us and then Ms Henry taped us playing. it didn't sound so good on the tape. mr. D (band teach) gave us constructive criticism and then while we were waiting to leave we did funny gymnastical stuff.

SUNDAY

Today we went to church, then shopping, then to Mom's vestry meeting, then to a candlelight service at Lincoln Park, and then home! We are having mac n' cheese for dinner. I got my candlelight to last from the park to the car!

Saturday

Today we will see The Twins + Francie. I am soOOOO excited! I like to see them. I awoke at 7 o clock this morning, but stayed in bed reading Teen Vogue and the script of Little Miss Sunshine and listened to Paganini's Caprices until 9. We had zephyr pancakes. Greg is in Philly.

Shopping

I skipped Mod 5 (creative arts) today with mommy, and went shopping at Bowie Town Center! I bought a purse at Old Navy, and a TeenVogue from Barnes and Noble. The purse had originally been 12.99, then it was 4.99, and I bought it for 3.99! Yay! It is a blue and white stripe biggish clutch.

More Orchestra Talk

There has been gossip about getting kicked out of Symphony. Today the 2nd cello came over to my friend Lu (cello), and said "You better practice your music, unless you want to get the boot" then she said "were you there when we were talking about it?" and lu nodded, and the other girl smiled. I am not intimidated, because I know that only mr. G can kick kids out, and pree and lu said that after the last class, the 1st and 2nd cellos had been talking about who they wanted to leave, and they wanted to get rid of me, but pree and lu said no, and mr g said that I am the most hard working student in the orchestra, and that he would never kick me out. (this is what pree and lu said, I did not hear this myself). then today in orch. he let us work on our Solo & Ensemble music while he called us in individually to hear us. and then he took his grade book and went into his office. Our group got together, and Mr. G called in about 10 students to hear, including my stand partner (4th chair). We played our Presto a couple of times, and we found it to loud to play Canon. Then the first girl who was listened to came out of the office, and she said that we had to play him pieces from the concert, so I went and told that to my group, and we decided to play Hallelujah Chorus, since Mr. G says that it is not one of our best songs. We started playing, just the 5 of us, and it got a little quieter, some kids turned and stared, then it got a little louder in the room, and we were about 14 msrs through. then mr g came storming out of his off ice and bellowed "Don't you dare play that song!" as soon as he stepped out of his office it became quiet, and it was silence for a little while after he went back in. everyone was staring at us. then students began practicing again, and i told my group that he just didn't want us to play it because it was too good. they agreed, and we continued to play. at the end of class, Mr. G came and said that everyone who he called in that day could play, but they didn't play with maturity. No one in my group was listened to, so i think that that is a good sign. he will hear our groups play on Monday.

At the concert

At the concert we played (an excerpt of) Concerto in D Major, Night Shift, Jupiter, The Nutcracker, Winter, and The Hallelujah Chorus. My stand partner and i didn't think that it was that bad at the time, but after the concert I knew that it was not the best it could have been, and today all we did during class was be talked to on how to improve and how other people are better than us. Did I say yesterday that i hurt my thumb? I smashed it between a door and a wall and it was swelling but then it was fine and then during the concert I showed my stand partner that it was swelling and it was a funny color. Then Manny saw and he taped it up.then today my thumb turned gray and at lunch we asked manny how tight it was supposed to be because when he taped it he said that it was supposed to be really tight and he said he didnt know but he might have done it too tight and it was supposed to really help and i said that it did but i thought that it was too tight and he said he didnot have any more and pree was upset and he said why do you excpect me to carry stuff for (my name)? and she said because he rolls like that.

Concert

I have a concert tonight-the first of this term and my time with the Symphony Orchestra. I am third chair, which is good for it being my first year.

Sunday

Today we went to church and then we went to Politics and Prose for the member's book sale. I got a great big book of music theory! Yay!

Today I am reading "And Both Were Young" by Madeleine L'Engle. I think it is good, but it got a little freaky after Paul told Flip that he didn't know who he was.

Happy Turkey Day aka Thanksgiving! 1010 posts! The sermon today was about memory and a mind is a terrible thing to waste and how you cant be thankful for something that u cant remember. I am thankful for my music. I practiced for over 2 hours yesterday.

i have a 5 whole day weekend because it is thanksgiving and our school has thanksgiving break.while i am on holiday i will make websites and post videos on youtube, the website in which you "broadcast yourself|".sounds like heaven for some.there are certainly lots of great videos.i would reccomend it to anyone who has not tried it.

Canon

We practiced Canon yesterday (sans the bass). It was very good. P got upset bcause we criticized her. it was just to get her used to playing in a group. greg is looking while i type this. how annoying

Advent

It is almost advent time. There were lots of kids at Sunday School today. At Coffee Hour there were chicken nuggets with cheese in them! I am going to see Justin at 3.

Lure

I am playing Lure of The Labyrinth and it is so cool! I am Aelops and my pet is Spike.

Incredibles

There is a GOBBS fundraiser that is the Incredibles in a double feature with Kung Fu Panda. Yay! The twins are coming!

Writing

I have done two writingasiignments: one on myself and the other on Edgar Allen Poe. Yippee. I am pretty tired but Hallelujah tht tomorrow is friday. Today mrs o was talking about an assign. and then at the end she said "Amen".

We went to church this morn and we just got back. It was Liam's baptism today. The Bishop is coming this afternoon so we have to go back.

Awesome Surprise

I went to Aaron's surprise birthday party last night. It was loads of fun. We played bingo, won prizes, got "vice packs", ate pizza and cake, and watched Get Smart. I am playing 2 Beethoven pieces: a Menuet and a Sonatina.

Ms. T said we may do a read-aloud of The Wizard of Oz and I think I have a pretty good chance of being dorothy. Today we went hiking w/dad and i fell in the river.

Kolbe just made choco chip cooookies. they are warm and melty and smell very good. I am rereading Theater Shoes. I sold cinna buns at school today and stayed after w/ Ms A-C to finish my tessellation. The French Immersion call me B.B. Bread Girl Delivery.

Yet another

-boring day. I hate these types of days. where you finish your homework and have nothing to do but sit around and play on the computer. On the other hand Mrs. O says that I have toxic chemical magnetic radiation forces in my brain and eyes that make me give computers problems.

Trio-Quintet

My trio turned into a quintet. We added a second violin and a bass. I liked our trio better. there was less of trouble with our schedules.

Feet

I went to Lu's after church and she gave me a pedicure and theni gave her one. she has extremely sensitive feet. she will be a dead bride for halloween and i will be a dead ballerina.

Vibrato

Justin said I can start learning vibrato next week. I am happy for that, but I was supposed to learn it a while ago. He doesn't have the best memory, so I hope he remembers next week.

Free Friday

Its Free Friday! No school! homework. huh. NO SCHOOL! VIOLA LESSONS AT UM!

Thursday

Even though it is Thursday, Preethi, Aaron, and I sang our Friday songs. We did not have free time today, we had community meeting, which i dont like cause it takes forever.

I still do not have much to say.
a. today every1 got notes that said things like "Happy Birthday", "I love u" "good luck on your math test" and even one that said "u are the lucky winner". the most common was happy birthday.
b. i found out later that it was Greer and Marjorie. they ar on FI.

c. I made it into Honors orch! it was fun.

Tosay I went to Aeropostale and got matching shirts for me and my friend, who is having a party on Saturday. They are blue with dots... very pretty.

Orch.

Orchestra class was fun today. We are playing th Hallelujah Chorus. The violas have a pretty good part. we found out that everyone makes a funny face while they play! Especially the violinists.

Test

I took an art test today and it was easy and i took a language vocab test and it was also easy. Ms. T added an extra word which was...Idiot.

Church

Today after church all the girls went into the nursery and we did gymnastics. Since I am the oldest, I think I did the best. Not to be rude, of course.

1/2 Birthday!

Today is my half birthday! I am happy! I did cartwheels this morning and had a smoothie for breakfast! Exclamation point!!!

Cartwheels

I was doing cartwheels in the gym today. I also attempted a few round offs, but on my last one I wiped out into the pool table and decided to come inside. I have trouble with roundoffs. I understand the concept, I just can't do it!

Audition

I auditioned for Honors County Orchestra. I think I did good. There were lots of viiolas.
